After book one, I was eager to see where Stewart would take the storyline。 I felt that Mr。 Benedict, his assistants, and the children were like newly found friends, and I wanted to see what adventures were next。 Book two deepens the relationships of all of these aforementioned folks, and we meet some new folks too! It is a joy to experience how these children learn more and more how to solve problems together and depend on each others unique abilities。

i don’t think anything will ever come close to the first book but i still enjoyed this one a lot despite the slow start。 it was so fun & i feel so attached to all of the characters i genuinely don’t know what i’ll do when i finish the rest of the books

3。5。 Not as fun as the first book, but still a good read and engaging enough to convince me to read book 3。 The kids have quite an adventure away from home, and it was nice to see the kids grow as a team and as individuals。

this is the most addicting book series ever (which unfortunately means i was up until 3am so i could finish)

I bought this book not realizing it was apart of a series of books, this one being the second installment。 But nonetheless I didnt feel left out of the loop reading it, things were explained as needed and then the story continued as though I was there from the beginning。 I know some of the reviews for this book felt that it was a slow moving book, I agree to a degree, it was a bit slow and worrisome in the beginning but it took me for an adventure with these kids and man was it fun to figure out I bought this book not realizing it was apart of a series of books, this one being the second installment。 But nonetheless I didnt feel left out of the loop reading it, things were explained as needed and then the story continued as though I was there from the beginning。 I know some of the reviews for this book felt that it was a slow moving book, I agree to a degree, it was a bit slow and worrisome in the beginning but it took me for an adventure with these kids and man was it fun to figure out the puzzles with them。 。。。more

It wasn't as quirky as the first book, but it was super fun nevertheless!! I loved the little clues, they were the best part of the book。Also, the small description about cycling in the Netherlands makes me wanna visit asap 🥰 It wasn't as quirky as the first book, but it was super fun nevertheless!! I listened to the audiobook version read by Del Roy。 I felt it an enjoyable performance。I liked the first installment of the series a bit more than the second, but I still enjoyed this one, too。 I enjoyed it enough to move on to the third now。

So much fun and excitement! I couldn’t put it down。 I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through。 Can’t wait for the next one。

A worthy sequel to an incredible novel。 Gripping circumstances layered with emotional care, and the charm and wit I've come to love from the Society。 A worthy sequel to an incredible novel。 Gripping circumstances layered with emotional care, and the charm and wit I've come to love from the Society。 。。。more

I was disappointed。 The first book was so fun and charming and this one was just flat。 So slow to start and just way too much telling, not enough showing。 I read both book one and two for the first time as an adult。 I think young people who are into a series of people who have fond memories of our from childhood would have a different take。 Vraiment déçu。 Le premier tome était si charmant mais celui-ci était barbant。 Le début était très lent et il y avait trop de passages descriptif de leur état I was disappointed。 The first book was so fun and charming and this one was just flat。 So slow to start and just way too much telling, not enough showing。 I read both book one and two for the first time as an adult。 I think young people who are into a series of people who have fond memories of our from childhood would have a different take。 Vraiment déçu。 Le premier tome était si charmant mais celui-ci était barbant。 Le début était très lent et il y avait trop de passages descriptif de leur état d'esprit au lieu de montrer leur qualités en action pour mon goût。 Peut-être je ne suis pas le publique idéale pour ce livre (adulte n'ayant jamais lu le séries jeune) 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book is so nice and wholesome, with interesting plot twists and the same endearing characters as the first one。 However, it lacked the originality, mystery, and sense of impending danger that were so well-executed in book one。 I was especially frustrated when certain details such as the “Salamander,” Mr。 Curtain’s “Ten Men,” and the hero Milligan’s duels with these Ten Men were /described/ to the reader rather than /experienced/ firsthand。 We’ll see if the third book is an improvement。

The first book was awesome, so I came into this one with sky-high expectations, and ended up feeling somewhat disappointed。 The first had an intriguing beginning; this started off very sluggishly。 The first was full of mysteries that we could attempt to solve alongside the characters; this didn't have any mysteries, but was more focused on action instead。 Previously, the characters were thrust into danger unwillingly; here, it was self-inflicted to a small extent。 I somehow feel that the charact The first book was awesome, so I came into this one with sky-high expectations, and ended up feeling somewhat disappointed。 The first had an intriguing beginning; this started off very sluggishly。 The first was full of mysteries that we could attempt to solve alongside the characters; this didn't have any mysteries, but was more focused on action instead。 Previously, the characters were thrust into danger unwillingly; here, it was self-inflicted to a small extent。 I somehow feel that the character flaws were also a little caricatured this time。The action itself was ok; (view spoiler)[Milligan's accompaniment (hide spoiler)] in the middle section of the journey robs much of the suspense and feeling of danger, but (view spoiler)[his subsequent departure and the encounter with Curtain (hide spoiler)] restores some of those back。 The ending was somewhat unsatisfying; all in all I found this middling。 。。。more

Not mind-blowing, but I liked it。

In theory, I love the world of the mysterious Benedict society。 I love books that could happen at any time or any place and his books do that very well。 You could tell me that this book was set in 1995 or 2015 and I would believe you。 This book was a disappointment however。 It took too long to get started, the middle was pretty good, and then it just ended abruptly。 I still love the characters and I still love the setting, but I think the author didn’t do enough with the world that he set up。

Another win for Trenton Lee Stewart。 Loved it。 His writing skills are unmatched。 The words, so well chosen。 The characters, so well developed。 The storyline, so engaging。 Can't wait to start #3 in the series。 Another win for Trenton Lee Stewart。 Loved it。 His writing skills are unmatched。 The words, so well chosen。 The characters, so well developed。 The storyline, so engaging。 Can't wait to start #3 in the series。 。。。more

I really liked this book。 I thought it was a great continuation to the story and I enjoyed the direction it is going in。 The characters are always super fun to read about and I like seeing them figure out clues and go on adventures。 I thought the plot was very straightforward and easy to follow while still being interesting and unpredictable。 I liked meeting the new characters and seeing their family grow。 It’ll be interesting to see how their story continues。

The second book in The Mysterious Benedict Society series。 A delightful middle grade read。 Light and entertaining。

I waited a year to read the second book in this series。 I was a little concerned that I might forget the characters, their unique abilities, etc。 This was not the case。 Reynie, Sticky, Kate and Constance were still fresh in my mind after the first chapter。 This whirlwind adventure also did not disappoint。 I found myself saying after each chapter, “I’ll read just one more。” These books are engaging to the young (and not so young) reader。 I highly recommend。

Laurel

Thoroughly enjoyable series to listen to with my son。

It took about a day for me to clear my mind and figure exactly how I wanted to explain my thoughts about this book。 I started this book immediately after I finished the first one but I put it down again (I hate myself for doing that) :*(, there are a few reasons so I am going to explain myself。 Most sequels are just overhyped and are just downright terrible, this book isn’t one of them (I found out after literally forcing myself to pick it up)。 This is just a crazy good book, that one should go It took about a day for me to clear my mind and figure exactly how I wanted to explain my thoughts about this book。 I started this book immediately after I finished the first one but I put it down again (I hate myself for doing that) :*(, there are a few reasons so I am going to explain myself。 Most sequels are just overhyped and are just downright terrible, this book isn’t one of them (I found out after literally forcing myself to pick it up)。 This is just a crazy good book, that one should go into, with absolutely no idea as to what will come or else they may be able to unravel the whole book and no one wants that。 :) So I am going to give no one any spoilers and just say, if you like a book that has long-distance travel, I am going to go ahead and say that you will like this one。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book nonetheless。 There were a few times that I thought the plot was taking too long to get to the point and I thought that the clues given were pretty clever。 Overall, I enjoyed it。

trenton lee stewart is always a great writer but this book is suffering from sequel-itis。 this really hits me hard because the mysterious bennidict society was my favorite book when i was younger。 i still enjoy re-reading it today!
